We are coming up to around 75% complete of a large residential dwelling in Starling Close, Pinner.
SSK Architect Ltd provided all services to the clients, from design stage to completion, full planning approval was granted and full building regulation approval with complete structural drawings was also completed. We have now been managing the project on behalf of the client with a contractor. We are very experienced in managing projects of this size and enjoy the tasks ahead.
The major challenge when designing for this project was the not only the scale but also how the original house was set up, there were many rooms all throughout the house and the communication between rooms was difficult…..for example getting to the study from the kitchen meant going through the dining, living an lounge which does not work well as a family home and is very unnecessary.
Once re-designed, a very calming, simple yet effective flow was gained throughout the entire house and between all rooms. This communication from ground floor all the way to first floor level while incorporating a large two storey rear extension and a first-floor rear extension meant that the use of space was utilised in the best possible way.
A challenge to this property was the train line which ran parallel to the boundary of the property, this was combatted through pile foundations dug to a depth of 2 meters.
Original rear of house, new images will be up on the website at the end of the year when interior design is complete.
