SSK Architects Ltd were engaged to convert a semi-detached house into a 2-storey set of flats with an extension of the house in Hatch End.
We are well versed with the interesting and different set of challenges which flat conversions throw up! We take them on board and enjoy by using clever design and space allocation to achieve maximum commercial output.
The house was to be split into 2 flats, 1 for each level of the house. The ground floor flat would contain 1 double bedroom for 2 residents and a single bedroom, plus a kitchen/living and dining space. On first floor level the flat would contain 1 double bedroom 2 residents with kitchen/dining and living facilities.
Flats are always more challenging due to the stricter regulations and requirements, this however makes every project of this nature very stimulating.
Allocating enough space for each person living in the flat and allowing for adequate amenity space is very tricky and can easily be over looked, this is however very important and needs to be carefully considered.
After clever use of space and design SSK Architects were able to achieve full planning permission for the house conversion into flats and the council also accepted all proposals which related to amenity, noise, pollution, communal areas and storage.
